I am a healthcare professional at another London trust but kingston is my local - unfortunately. Have multiple health probs but don't go to hospital unless I have to. Severe abdo pain, waited for 4hrs to be seen for less than 2mins by stressed out doctors who sent me home saying I would be contacted the following day for a scan. This didn't happen so I contacted ED who rudely told me to contact the GP and CT scanning who said ED hadn't done correct paperwork so could I chase them up!
Left messages for PALS and on contacting switchboard I complained it goes to voicemail was told "we get that a lot" and when I then said I thought it was appalling and wouldn't take my cat there, they laughed and said "we get that a lot too".
I went to another hospital where luckily I was quickly diagnosed with gallstones and a bowel blockage and currently receiving treatment.
I am making a formal complaint to both the hospital and other relevant bodies which as a healthcare professional, saddens me. I cannot fault the actual ED staff who were all perfect and working under what are clearly difficult conditions - so please never take your frustrations out on the frontine staff - it's quite clear that a management overhaul and more funding is needed for what is an unacceptable service. At the moment kingston is the last place I would go, even if my life depended on it.
"Worst experience ever"
