This is a superb hospital fact which is made by the friendly, professional, knowledgable and communicative staff at all levels.
From the time I was first examined for cataracts through to the procedure itself, I was dealt with as a person.
The paper communication of appointments was timely and clear as to what I might expect to happen and was complemented by a phone call to make sure all instructions were understood.
Arrival was prompt and reception staff were anxious to ensure that I got located in the correct area.
We never had to wait long.
I have Alzheimers so the support of my husband to hear instructions and generally keep an eye on me was handled sympathetically; he was never made to feel a nuisance and is as impressed as I am with the overall treatment.
The initial assessment was friendly and accessible and I was encouraged to ask questions; responses were both clear and thorough.
On the day of the operation my nervousness was handled beautifully.
i never felt anything was a trouble, it was all explained, other medical issues were thoroughly investigated and I was left confident that I was in incredibly safe hands.
Not surprisingly the surgeon was equally professional and approachable so that the procedure - which can be frightening to the uninitiated - passed without incident!
The only observation I would make relates to the drops one is supposed to apply before arriving to start the process of pupil dilation which were never given to me.
It is so minor as to be unworthy of more that a passing mention in an otherwise calm and positive experience.
Looking at the superb appearance of the facility - reception, cafe, toilets - to the professional and caring attitude of medical staff it is obvious that this is a Treatment Centre which treats its staff well and therefore gets the best out of them to the benefit of patients.
I look forward to having the other eye done!!!
Exceptional!
