The children's assessment ward is a disgrace.
Some of the staff are great but some a short and bordering on hostile if you dare ask a question such as "how long will the wait be".
On the basis that my Wife had an awful birth to a large baby and we have a 2 year old these sort of questions aren't in reasonable.
We have now waited around 30 hours to be seen by Doctors in the space of two visits, one leading to a couple of nights stay.
If people could be straight with you and communicate the waiting would be bearable.
However, Sunday, I was told not to walk round the ward with my Baby as new borns have to be kept in a room due to the risk of infection, fair point, but today four days later we are in the main waiting room with all the "infectious" older children.
We have been told by a member of staff that they weren't qualified to do a blood test only to find five hours later the same member of staff doing the blood test.
Today we have come for a follow up blood test and I have been snapped at twice by a member of staff once for asking politely how long the wait may be and secondly for telling them, as requested, that we had finished using the breast feeding room.
I could go on, my wife spent at least one night in hospital with our baby when it was not needed purely because a Doctor needed to tell them to switch a Jaundice Lamp off.
It took 7 hours from the blood tests coming back and is being told the Jaundice was clear to a Doctor saying it was ok to switch the lamp off.
So another nights stay, which surely isn't cost effective!
Very poor show and the signs outside the ward talking about communication and patients coming first make it even more ridiculous
