I literally stepped off a flight from the USA to visit my father who lives in the area feeling very unwell. I was seen right away and taken straight through once I explained my chronic condition - it happens a lot and I have learned to recognize symptoms. Once in a bay the staff quickly started to set me up with an IV and various other meds I needed. i was admitted and was impressed with the quality of the emergency ward, fantastic hardworking staff, dealing with difficult patients, never stopping all day and all night. I know after ten years of living in the USA that the care I received on the NHS was far superior than the same treatment I would have had in the USA - ( and that's with expensive health insurance in the USA!) it would have been outdated and practically negligent in comparison. My only criticism is that they wouldn't discharge me until they felt I was adequately well enough to leave, so not really a complaint as such! Thanks to everyone there that treated me - I have only good things to report about my visit. When you live in another country it makes you very appreciative for our wonderful NHS!!!
