It still haunts me how my mum was treated in ward 22 last January, mum was taken back there from the lgi in Leeds where they had fought to bring her back from a heart attack and was well on the way to recovery ,but had to be transferred back Bradford due to been under Bradford health from arriving into ward 22 she was left on a bed with no food or drink offered for over 5hrs whilst a nurse kept coming back to fill a questionaire in about her details etc the they would go again and come back! I was with mum luckily during this time and got food and drink from the shop bearing in mind my mum had diabetes, when mum was offered some food when I asked later she was offered lentil curry! Which was left don't think there are many 84 years how would relish that do you? On first meeting the doctor it was quite obvious mum wasn't a priority and age was against her , mum was then left with basic care and even when her consultant from St Luke's was in the ward they did not even check on her, the nurses on the ward were good except a certain few who spoke little English and quite ignorant at times if you dared ask for anything,I spoke to the sister about this and who said they were very upset to hear this about their ward! I also mentioned how nobody was bothered about her not eating or drinking along with other elderly patients in the ward again they said they were so shocked I don't think so?! On the day before my mum passed away she was breathless I kept asking for help and only at 10pm at night the nurse said they would get doctor it was then 3am in morning when doctor arrived and said mum had fluid on lung after getting chest X-ray done at last! At that point I had been with mum watching her struggle for breath for over 24 hrs. I only hope and pray that the doctor and team of carers get there reward for the way my mum was treated that dreadful week in the bri because I will not ever be able to forget my mum struggling for breath and trying to reach out to me for help sorry to rant but the treatment my mum was given is still eating away at me and I only hope certain people get the cumuppence they deserve
