After waiting over 3 hours in the walk-in centre for a rash (cause still unknown) possibly allergy related I was dismissed by the doctor who suggested I see my GP. When I tried to explain to them that I was between residencies and wasn't registered they said I needed to register to a GP (1 week wait) and then make an appointment. Even though this issue is ongoing and recorded at my previous GP, the MRI walk-in centre doesn't have access to any patient records (smart move right?). I queried why I had to take 4 hours off work to be told that I couldn't be helped and what purpose the clinic served for skin conditions (as advertised on the side of the building) I was told: "we can make referrals for severe allergic reactions or chicken pox".... so let me get this straight, nobody took the time to read the reasons why I thought I was there (suspected allergic reaction) as if they had I wouldn't have wasted 3 hours of my time BUT on the off-chance I had chicken pox they thought it best for me to wait in an over-populated waiting room (evidently avoidable as per the above) in close proximity to other people for 3 HOURS! Or. in the event of a severe allergic reaction, I should wait 3 hours to be seen?! what a miserably run hospital in severe need of a shake-up. The NHS gets PLENTY of money to provide for the healthcare demands of the country yet they complain about limited resource. It's really quite simple - Don't waste available resources as per my instance above and don't let procurement departments leave it until March to go on ludicrous spending spree's on stuff they don't need. a truly appalling experience all round, can't help but feel let down again by the NHS.
"Poor allocation of limited resource"
