"Kings Mill ED"

About: King's Mill Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

Arrived and was seen in timely manner. My daughter had a set of observations done. I thought the nurse' manner was poor, blood pressure cuff put over jumper, saturation monitor wasn't working...but was unplugged but the nurse decided it was because her hands were cold.

A Dr came to take bloods, again the same nurse grabbed at my daughter without explanation or consent and the cannula and syringe were tossed onto the non sterile bed, prior to being used.

I really wasn't impressed. As a nurse myself, I feel training on infection control and bedside manner is needed. Please consider employing paediatric nurses for your paediatric ED.

My daughter also had an adult cannula used, unnecessarily causing bruising to her arm. The 4 hr policy was also breached as we were in ED for 5. 5 hrs before admission.

Dear reviewer,

We are very sorry to hear about your daughter’s experience in our Emergency Department. Your experience does not reflect the high level of care we expect our patients to receive in Sherwood Forest Hospitals, and we would like to look into the matter to investigate your concerns further.

If your daughter is happy for us to do so, please contact PET@sfh-tr.nhs.uk or telephone 01623 672222.

Kind regards,

Communications Team Sherwood Forest Hospitals
