"Excellent care at Hairmyres Hospital, East Kilbride"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / General Surgery (Ward 5)

(as a relative),

I am writing on behalf of my family to express our sincere thanks and to let you know how delighted we have been with the excellent care and attention which my Dad has received at every visit to Hairmyres Hospital in recent months.

My Dad is 82 years old and has a few medical conditions which have meant that he has been a patient in various departments of the hospital.

He has been treated on every visit not only with great professionalism, skill and competence, but also with real warmth and kindness. Every person has inspired confidence which made everything far less worrying than it might have been.

They have been very friendly, great at listening and communicating and seem very happy at their work.

In particular the care from the following members of the team has been outstanding.

Dr Farrell, the anaesthetist for his vascular surgery on 23rd Nov, has been exceptional in every way. She has a lovely warm personality and left no stone unturned to ensure that she had everything perfect for Dad. She has a charming sense of humour and Dad felt totally reassured after meeting her.

She called me after the operation to reassure me that everything had gone well.

Nurse Maureen Clarke at his Pre- Assessment was also excellent and nothing was too much trouble for her to ensure that his treatment got off to the best possible start.

Dr Renwick, whom he has seen for scans mainly at Monklands explained the whole procedure, complete with a sample stent and answered all of our questions.

We met Dr Korsavva on the final visit pre surgery and she was very thoughtful and considerate and we enjoyed our conversation whilst she took blood samples. She even advised on parking!

Mr Bain who performed the surgery was very attentive and in his post op visits gave Dad the confidence that the procedure was successful

The multidisciplinary team who performed the surgery put him at his ease and we really believe that Dad has had the A –Team!

In his last two check-ups at Urology we have been very impressed by Dr Karrigiannis who had taken account of Dad’s whole medical history and clearly explained and discussed his own area of expertise.

All of the nurses and the administration staff have also been very kind, caring and efficient

We are very fortunate to have benefitted from the talents of these people and will never forget their kindness and care.

Dear Joely,

Thank you for such kind comments which will be shared with all the teams and individual staff you have takent the time to mention. Any visit to hospital can be a worrying time for patients and for relatives. I'm so pleased your Dad and the family felt well cared for and with such good communication which we strive for with every patient on every visit.

I hope your Dad is well and recovering from any interventions. Once again thank you for taking the time to give staff this precious feedback.

Kind Regards

Gwen Macintyre
