"a place of kindness"

About: Hexham General Hospital

In November I spent about a week in Hexham Hospital with a broken leg after being transferred from Cramlington.

I want to thank everybody I met there for the great kindness and professional skill I receivedat Hexham from nurses, physios, tea ladies, doctors, cleaners, chaplain and health care workers. You always seemed to came into the room with smiles and greetings. You helped me do the things I was unable to do for myself without making me feel a nuisance, and you cheerfully encouraged my progress. I'd especially like to thank the lovely health care worker who early one morning after being on duty all night, washed my hair for me; and the lovely nurse who gently washed and dried my feet which I could not reach. I felt so safe, discovering I could trust the skill and your kindness at Hexham. You have a beautiful hospital staffed by beautiful people. Thank you so much.

Dear Anne,

We are exceptionally proud of Hexham hospital and the fantastic staff who work there every day. It is lovely to hear you describe both as beautiful!

Thanks also for sharing the detail behind your hospital stay and how it enabled you to feel so well looked after. You kindly noticed all the members of the team who played their part in delivering high quality, safe and compassionate care – it will mean everything to them to understand just how much their efforts were appreciated.

I hope you are recovering well at home and your leg is well on the mend.

With best wishes, Annie
