About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford)

(as the patient),

What I liked

I received fantastic support and treatment from this hospital throughout my pregnancy and during the birth of my baby. I was also given three ultrasound examinations in the first 12 weeks after I bled slightly - one was even booked in for a Saturday! Our baby unfortunately had to go into Special Care but again the treatment received was second to none. The staff were all extremely kind and the hospital was impeccably clean. Hospitals receive bad press far too frequently so it seems only fair that the William Harvey are given some very well-earned praise!

What could be improved

The food provided on the ward was not great! It was a bit plain and we ended up eating a lot of sandwiches from the cafe instead when I was in labour. I would have also liked the staff at SCBU to make me feel more included in the care of my baby although I'm told that's a common feeling for SCBU mums. The SCBU staff were all so caring however, that they can't really be faulted. The SCBU parent facilities were excellent too.

Anything else?

I liked the hospital so much that even if we move house out of area and come back under Maidstone again, I'm going to take up my right to choose my previous midwife, should we have another baby, so that I can use the William Harvey again.
