"Site Plan / Map"

About: Trafford General Hospital

The Trafford General Hospital Site Plan and Maps are USELESS!

Map of area is geographically correct but should start with Moorside Road at the bottom not on the right hand side. I do not care where NORTH is! This is how people approach the hospital and it should begin at the bottom and lead out from that point.

The so called site plan is USELESS. Trying to find Acute Medicine but not listed. No clear definition in graphic of departments and sub units. Go on the MRI site and all clearly shown and broken down in easy to follow and access site. Why can one hospital get it so right and another so wrong!

Thank you for your feedback on the Trafford Hospital site map.

The maps are orientated to where they are positioned. So when you look at the map, it will reflect the position of the site where you are standing. Orientation of maps is advised within the NHS Way Finding Guidelines, and the company who produced the Central Hospitals maps have also produced the Trafford Hospital site map.

The installation of the site maps is the first stage of the wider signage project at Trafford Hospital. The second stage will start in January 2016 and will be installation of internal and external signage to align with the site map and the route visitors and patients need to take. Letters are being sent out to patients to give further instructions as to where the department they need to attend can be found and what colour zone they need to follow.

We do understand that it is confusing until all internal signage has been replaced. The Estates and Facilities team apologise for the current frustration and confusion but once the second phase is implemented the new signage will complement the site maps
