"Don't have a baby here at Christmas! P"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

I had visited the maternity assessment unit a few times prior to my son's arrival. My mother came with me and we heard the phones ring and the midwife talking then they put the phone down and laughed and said Jesus Christ your only a few weeks pregnant.

This shocked us so much.

On the 23Rd December 2014 I had my beautiful baby boy here via emergency c section ad my baby was stuck and i was in labor for 50 plus hours.

Firstly no one detected I had severe spd til I was 40 + weeks.

I couldn't open my legs or lye on my back. On my induction they monitored my baby making me lye on my back for an hour to realise they hadn't wired it up. Also didn't realise my son had been stuck for months. Then they gave me my epidural and I had a faulty machine that had to be manually done so I was experiencing emence pain even with my epidural as it wasn't working.

The midwife who could hardly speak English kept breaking wind whilst I was in labor and saying"

Ohh I'm sorry ". The doctors who did my c section were outstanding.

Caring, encouraging and brilliant.

When my baby arrived he was constantly crying.

I asked a midwife for help breastfeeding, they said he was latched on well and just give him a bottle of formula if I can't do it which I didn't want to do so didn't I kept trying, alone.

When I discharged myself on Christmas day as I was getting no help whatsoever I rang my local midwife in tears who came out and said my son was severely tongue tied and hasn't been feeding!

In the hospital I was ringing my bell for help no one came to me,

I kept my finger on it and one midwife eventually came in and said we are too busy.

I struggled and walked down the hall to find them all sitting there eating cake, laughing and drinking tea. I was left in my dirty clothes and sanitary wear for hours with blood stained sheets and my catheter wad always full to the brim.

Leicester Royal really let me down and nearly a year on I can only write a review as this hospital ruined the most important day of my life.
