"echogram reports??"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

Is it true that the consultants reports are sent to "India " to be written up and thats why it takes so long for the results to get to my G.P?

When I phoned my surgery to ask for the secretary to call the hospital as my results had not arrived I was told that it takes much longer now EGH no longer write the reports and send them overseas to be done!!

Is someone in the NHS pulling my leg?

We are sorry if you feel that reports at taking too long to get to your GP. Every week the Trust sends out approximately 8000 letters and there is a 48 hour agreed turnaround time which enables patient information to be available at your surgery within 5 working days. Like many other Trusts we are seeing more patients year on year and would not be able to cope without outsourcing this essential service as it is important that letters and results are processed quickly and efficiently. By outsourcing this service it allows our Medical Secretaries to focus on dealing with clinician and patient queries, undertake other important duties and other administrative tasks.

Thank you for your question
