"Kind staff but a couple of things could be improved at DRI"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

The anaesthetist and whoever was with him (I was laying down so didn’t really see) were very calming as I had broken my elbow. I did the same break so had the same operation in 1990 and the anaesthetist said cruel words. When I came round in the recovery room, the nurse was very nice. I was looked after well in the ward, only in from noon till 9pm.

I didn’t hear them tell me I should have changed into the gown but what I didn’t like was having to leave my watch on the bedside table instead of having a second to put it in my handbag. It was only a £5 one from the market and there was only the husband or boyfriend of the other girl (it was two bed room) who was in the operating theatre there but watches shouldn’t be left out.

I should have been given a hand wipe after I had tried to use the commode as then I was to eat my sandwich. I had my own bottle of hand cleaner but they didn’t know. Perhaps these two things can be sorted for the future. Otherwise I was treated well.

My check up date was changed easily as it came in the post as I had left after the office closed.
