"Lewisham birth centre"

About: University Hospital Lewisham / Maternity care

(as the patient),

It was my first baby and I was quite scared about it. When in early labour I called the birth center a few times and they were really reassuring and didn't make feel silly about ringing several times.

When I came in I was 2 cm. They sent me home. There, I had a rest, some food, took a bath and the contractions got more intense and more frequent. when I got back to the birth center 6 hours later I was finally 4 cm.

I was taken into Lavender and I went in the pool. from there everything went quite quickly and I gave birth to my beautiful daughter 5 hours later. I had skin to skin straight afterbirth. I was nervous about breastfeeding my baby but the midwives were really supportive and gave amazing advice. I'm still breastfeeding and she is 6 months old.

I'm absolutely thrilled with the care I've received and I would recommend to anyone to have their baby there. It's a fabulous place and the staff is amazing.
