"maternity care spot on"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital Chesterfield Royal Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I had my second son 10 months ago. The pregnancy had been slightly difficult, with suspected gestational diabetes and a large baby. I had an elective section in the end and the process was fabuluous from start to finish.

My surgery date had been overlooked and so in the end I was actually called up at 9am on a Wednesday morning to be in for surgery by 11, which was quite nice really because we still had the excitment of rallying everyone together that you get with a spontaneous labour. We were last on the list and really should have been cancelled because the theatre list had considerably overrun, but the team were brilliqant and agreesd to stay on to get us done.

First night my baby slept through, then the next night he cried non-stop. At 3am the nursing staff took my baby into another room (crying) so that I could get some sleep. It was really good. The nursing staff were suppportive of all the Mums' wishes and created a really warm and friendly environment. The breastfeeding support was excellent and I don't think I would have managed without it.

I had my first child in the RVI Newcastle, I had previously thought the care I received there was excellent but now I have experienced Calow I realise that the Newcastle care was actually pretty sub standard.

Would reccomend to anyone
