Very prompt, considerate and professional ambulance/paramedic crew to start with, then friendly nursing staff at the urgent care centre on arrival; I was seen by a doctor within the target waiting time and looked after very well during the wait (the nurse brought me and my wife tea and sandwiches as it was very late at night) and after initial drug treatment I was transferred to the Clincial Decisions Unit where I had a bay to myself and was again very well looked after, and everything was explained to me. Finally I saw the consultant in the morning who confirmed the diagnosis and prescription; I also had breakfast and the person in charge did thoughtful things like opening the packets of butter and marmalade (which can be tricky to open for some people) and made fresh toast. Little things but they make a difference- like all the staff, at all stages, introducing themselves by name and making sure the staff they were handing me on to also knew my name. The medical treatment itself - relief for acute pain - was also effective.
