"Finally finding some peace of mind"

About: Inclusion Matters Wirral

(as the patient),

I now know I have suffered from anxiety/depression since childhood. I finally reached out for help in my mid 30's when I was officially diagnosed by my Doctor and started taking medication which I have been on and off over the years. In April this year I was having another bad period of anxiety/depression when I contacted my Doctor who offered me CBT along with medication. I had mixed feelings about starting CBT and felt anxious about what to expect at these sessions.

However, my anxieties were allayed once I met Terry. I felt able to connect with Terry which enabled me to trust him and therefore I felt comfortable enough to discuss my most inner fears and thoughts. At first the therapy was not easy and there was homework you must complete and you have to engage in this for it to work. I slowly began to realise a lot of my anxieties were impractical ones which I could do absolutely nothing about and focus on practical ones where maybe I could do something. I took on board the coping tools we discussed weekly and incorporated them into my daily life. I am who I am and will always be one of life's worriers but it's now been a month since my last session and I'm feeling in a very good place at the moment. I feel I now have coping mechanisms in place to help me deal with my daily fears and thoughts. The therapy and support from Terry was second to none and has had a huge impact on me, my family and friends. You get what you put into this therapy but I would definitely recommend this to anyone who suffers from anxiety it will open your eyes. Finally I would like to conclude by saying a big thank you to Terry I can't put into words the difference you have made in my life.

The only thing that needs improving is the waiting time to receive therapy.
