"Impressed with diabetes services in Doncaster"

About: Doncaster PCT Doncaster Royal Infirmary

(as the patient),

Recently I was diagnosed with Diabetes, my first port of call when I noticed symptoms was the GU medicine clinic in DRI the staff are lovely the nurse and the doctor and also the consultant who saw me were very lovely, helpful and respectful. It helps having that experience when visiting such an establishment which can be quite embarrassing. The only complaint I had was the receptionist are not very discreet and will shout out your name ad information.

Secondly I visited my GP surgery, I have been twice regarding the symptoms I was experiencing. First time I met Dr Coleman, who was extremely concerned about ensuring he got things right, I spend quite a lot of time with him whilst he explained things in detail so I could easily understand. I did not feel like I was in and out and not any wiser like I have previously experienced at other surgeries.

Equally, I visited regarding the initial test and this time my appointment was with Dr Sellars, again, he was very respectful and took time to explain my results to stop my worry. he gave information in a clear and no jargonistic manner. My appointment time was around 20 minutes which is unusual in my experience.

I am very happy to be with the surgery I am with and I feel that they are genuinely concerned about me and are trying their best to support me with diabetes.

I might add that the Lloyds Chemist opposite Kingthorne Practice were also very helpful teaching me how to take my blood sugar and explaining how I would best be able to help myself manage diabetes.

I am very impressed with the services I have received.
