"Waked over six hrs because of an error"

About: York Hospital

I arrived at minor injuries to have a burn looked at (second degree). When I arrived the waiting time was two hours. I waited over six, and still wouldn't have been seen if I hadn't asked where I was in the queue. It turns out they'd put me on the wrong list and I should have seen a nurse practitioner hours earlier.

I'd like to stress that the nurse practitioner I saw was excellent, warm, friendly, competent and sincere in their apology.

The problem is I wasn't the only one stuck waiting over five hours and the lady beside me within a suspected blood clot in her leg went home without being seen by anyone other than a triage nurse. This is deeply concerning that people are missing out on urgent medical care.
