"Children's ward and anaesthetist"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Children's Ward

(as a parent/guardian),

My 10 year old daughter attended for tonsillectomy recently. I would just like to comment on the 3 staff nurses who cared for my daughter Claire and June who were on duty during the day and ainslie who was on duty during the night. My daughter was terrified to be coming into hospital for an operation. However the care she received from the nurses was exceptional, they explained everything that was going to happen and even though she wasn't well behaved to start with, the patience and understanding they showed her was fantastic.

After the operation they made sure she had pain relief when required, they encouraged her to eat and drink and really made her comfortable throughout her stay. I cannot praise them enough.

The anaesthetist who looked after my daughter cared for her as though she was his own. He was with her when I went down to the recovery area after her op and then came up to the ward to see her and prescribed her more pain relief as she was very sore.

To see doctors care about their patients in this way was very special and I would like to thank him for this. ( I think his name was Tom! ! ! ) the care shown to me and my husband was excellent too, the nurses knew we were both anxious and treated us superbly.

Thank you all for the excellent care you gave to my daughter. Also a thank you to the auxiliary nurse and house keeper too, use do a fabulous job also.

Oops thank you to laura the staff nurse who came on duty in the morning.

Dear Suzy B

It is great to hear that your daughter is recovering well after her surgery.

Coming to hospital, especially for an operation, is a very frightening situation not only for a child but also for you as a parent. I am glad that the care you all received helped make it a good experience.

Thank you so much for your fantastic feedback, I know staff will be over the moon to hear it! I have sent a copy to the ward manager to share with the nursing team,(especially those named above), doctors and housekeepers and also to theatre for the anaesthetist.

I hope your daughter continues to recover well and continues to enjoy soothing ice- cream!

With best wishes to all your family.

Gail
