About: Wansbeck Hospital

I was in Gynaecology yesterday to have a minor operation in Out Patients. It was discovered I needed this when I attended the same department a short while ago. Last time I was so impressed by the fact that I had scans, saw the consultant, got the diagnosis and was told what was needed to be done, all in one visit.

I was a little apprehensive yesterday but there was no need to be. The staff were wonderful, everything was explained, I was given effective pain relief and was treated with consideration and dignity - not always easy to maintain your dignity when it's gynaecology!

The procedure was painless and I was able to watch what was being done on a screen and everything was explained in detail. I wasn't allowed to go until the staff were sure I was fully fit and I even got a call this morning to ask how I was.

I cannot praise the staff in Wansbeck enough. My husband has been a patient there (this was my first time) and I have always been so impressed with how he has been looked after. Now I am speaking from a personal point of view I can only reiterate what I have said before - the ethos of the hospital, the care you get from walking in through the door till you leave is superb.

I know I am not allowed to name members of staff but the nurses and the consultant who I saw yesterday were exemplary - a great credit to the NHS.
