"Mid-pregnancy Scan"

About: City Hospital (Birmingham)

I visited the Maternity Center to get mid-pregnancy scan. All service I got here is very unkind and even awful.

As a letter from the hospital, I checked-in at the kiosk and waited to be called. But for 1 hour nobody called me and finally when I asked why, they said that "the kiosk sometimes malfunctions and cheking-in in person is necessary". Then why kiosk is on and your letter is saying self check-in is enough to let you know my arrival? I had to wait for about 2 hours for 10 minutes scan.

I was 6 days late to have a mid-pregnancy scan becase of appointment was delay. The sonographer rejected to do detailed ultra sound scan.

I am a first time mom and quite anxious that everything was ok with my baby, so I was begging them to look inside as deep as possible, even though there are some limitation.

Bu the sonographer was so rude that they didn't explain anything to me. The only words they answered to my many questions are "There is some limitation to be sure because of you late booking".

I even couldn't recognize anything where baby's feet, hands and all the organs are and if the size of the baby's organ is proper.

I feel like I want another scan just to have things shown to me and explains. I was very dissatified with the service you gave.

Hello, thank you for telling us about your experience in our Maternity department and I am sorry to hear that you did not receive the care and attention that you deserved.

Our Patient Advice & Liaison Service will be able to help you so I would like to encourage you to email them on swb-tr.pals@nhs.net. They will be able to help resolve your concerns so that hopefully you can have a more positive experience of our care. We have great maternity facilities at City Hospital and I hope that we can thoroughly address your concerns so that you can benefit from our care throughout your pregnancy and as you become a new mum.
