Spent 2 weeks in the hospital following trauma from being a passenger involved in a RTA.

The first week was spent in an induced coma to relieve the pressure on my brain and neck following a haemorrhage & unstable C1 fracture. My parents could not praise the staff enough for the care I received in the ICU. A nurse who was treating me in ICU the day I was brought out of the coma was amazing.

Spent the next week on ward 12F under the care of 3 departments, Neurology (for my neck & head), Plastic surgery (for some deep wounds/burns covering half my back) & Oral & Maxillofacial (for the stitching of a 12cm laceration extending from my scalp down onto my forehead). 2 nurses on this ward made my time in hospital bearable and were beyond friendly.

My follow ups with the Oral & Maxillofacial have been fantastic and I can not thank my consultant enough, especially stitching up my head so neat - there's barely a scar and for the advice in regards to the scarring covering 50% of my shoulder/back.

Just a shame I was discharged without any follow ups booked in relation to my broken neck and was left in a hard collar for 13 weeks with no advice/CT Scans to check the healing. Also no information was passed onto my GP regarding any of my injuries. Appreciate the NHS are understaffed but it was a bit of a disappointment after receiving outstanding care during my initial stay.
