"Everything from the time I saw ..."

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Everything from the time I saw the Consultant who accepted that a new Hip would relieve my inability to carry on a normal existance to the day I left having had surgery. I liked the Derwent Experience!!!although I had my doubts as I generally like a shared ward, the private rooms in the Derwent were very pleasant and helpful to recovery for many reasons , privacy, dignity and pleasant surroundings and able to squirm in pain/discomfort without everybody watching. The staff, each and every one of them were cheerful and nothing seemed too much trouble. Being able to more or less choose my date of admission to suit my personal commitments and the helpful way Angela in Preadmissions dealth with all my little issues around blood tests getting lost etc. Total cover by a multidisciplinary team during my stay which covered a weekend and X Ray facility on the spot. Preadmission courtesy call and follow up call 6 weeks after my surgery...what else can I say except THANKYOU to an amazing service provided by an amazing team. I must however, say a huge thank you to the Consultant Surgeons, Anaethetists and their Teams for everything they have done for me since my first replacement in 2001...it's called giving me back my life, able to do things I want without pain..Thank you so much!!

What could be improved

Not a lot just teeny things...A bath mat for the shower would have saved me mopping up with my flannnel. The notice asking only patients to sit in the armed chair in my room could have been better placed rather than hiding by the wardrobe...then we would have seen it and my husband not got scolded!! As I said very minor!!

Anything else?

If this is Orthopaedic RBH style congratulations in what is a very difficult climate of targets and bed emptying...you have succeeded in remain totally focused on your patients an I for one am truly grateful.
