"Surprisingly amazing"

About: The Royal London Hospital

I gave birth at RLH in April 2013 and had an awful experience, so this time around I had no expectations of there being any improvement. I'm whole heartedly surprised at my experience, I met some amazing staff working in a highly pressurised environment. I felt well looked after and that I could trust those looking after me. It's important to be assertive and ensure you are listened to, but as long as you are polite the staff are more than happy to listen and support you. The midwives supporting my high risk delivery were fantastic, they kept me calm and reminded the consultant of my preferences which meant I didn't need to worry. I was kept informed at all times. Once I was up on the ward every member of staff ensured they introduced themselves when entering my room. Again I was kept informed at all times, and felt each member of staff communicated really well as I never found myself having to explain things. There was lots of support offered, and although the staff were very busy they always made you feel like you were a priority. I cannot thank these wonderful staff members enough, truly amazing individuals.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby. We hope that you are settling in well.

It is great to hear that your experience second time round was different to the first and that the nurses kept you calm and informed throughout your labour.

Thank you for taking time to share your experience of our Maternity Services. We have shared your thanks and comments with the Maternity Team.

Best wishes
