I wear an alarm button that I can press if I have any problems at home. I’ve used it quite a few times. It’s the girls from East Ayrshire council who come out.
Once I forgot to put it on and I had a fall. I lay for 2 hours before someone came. It was my own fault but I’ll never forget to put it on again.
I pressed the button once when I had chest pain. The paramedics arrived before the carers did and in the end I had to stay in hospital for three weeks.
I feel safe because I know I’ll always get help if I need it.
