I recently delivered my second baby at St Mary's Birthing Centre.
My first baby was also delivered there.
I found the service and support provided exceptional both times.
I had a very different experience of labour the second time round and the midwifery team at St Mary's listened to me, and adjusted their approach to suit my needs/preferences.
The second time in particular I was concerned that the labour would escalate quickly.
I went into the Birthing Centre quite early and the team was great in accommodating me and my partner as they had an empty room.
The midwives communicated with me regularly and let me know what options I had which I found supportive and empowering.
Their knowledge, experience and professionalism is second to none. Not only did they support the best possible, safe delivery for me and my baby, the centre places a real focus on strong aftercare and support which really sets it apart from other hospitals (I have heard this from others who have delivered there too). For example, my partner and I had very special time and space provided after the birth to bond with the baby, and the midwife team is very active and effective in supporting breast feeding to be established.
The staff are superstars, and we are exceptionally lucky to have such an amazing birthing centre nearby.
Thank you St Mary's!
"Outstanding support and professionalism - yet..."
