"on ward 7 the nursing staff were ..."

About: South Tyneside District Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

on ward 7 the nursing staff were very caring especially a young male nurse. he had a word for everyone and made you smile.

What could be improved

2 of the toilets were being refurbished at the same time leaving one 'ladies only' toilet for everyone to use. the male cleaner knew exactly where the team leader and matron would inspect and cleaned accordingly

Anything else?

Some of the consultants were very abrupt and did not appear to listen to the whole story.

Thank you for telling us about your experience on ward 7. We very much appreciate people taking the time to comment on their care and allowing us to learn from this and make any changes necessary. I am pleased you found the nursing staff to be very caring and I will certainly pass your comments on. I know they will be heartened to receive them. Thank you also for your comments about the toilets. I have passed these on to our facilities team who will ensure the areas are regularly inspected to identify any problems.

I apologise if you found any of the medical team to be abrupt. Whilst I am sure this was not their intention it is important feedback and I will bring your views to their attention. I appreciate you taking the trouble to let me know about this.

Kind regards

Lorraine Lambert

Chief Executive
