"E58 Stroke ward"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

I was visiting a family member on E58 acute stroke ward between 2-4. She was well looked after and I feel all of her needs were being met. My only concern was that during our visit the woman in the bed next to us had soiled herself early into the visiting time. The woman was clearly confused and began to walk around the ward with soiled clothing. A nurse came into the ward and observed all of the patients and took notes and was clearly aware of the soiled woman however did not react to the fact. It took approximately an hour for two nurses to come in and take the woman behind the curtains and clean her up. I appreciate that hospital staff are all busy, especially nurses, however I do not think this is fair to either the mentioned patient or the patients who are sharing the ward area with her.
