What I liked

All the nursing staff were very friendly, very down to earth and I observed they always used the hibiscrub which is by the door to the patients bed area every time they came in. Nothing was too much trouble for patients, meals were served cheerily and information was clear when given or explained to patients. Beds were comfortable and space was adequate for facilitating storage of personal belongings during my stay.

What could be improved

The only thing I could say is the way staff are towards patients family members who await news on people during their surgery. The family member who accompanied me was spoken to rather curtly and was left feeling 'in the way' despite not being on the ward or taking up any time upon merely asking whether the operation was going well. He ended up leaving the hospital itself to ring friends to gain reassurance after being spoken to in a 'curt' manner, rather than someone stating 'everything is going well, the patient will be back on the ward shortly' or something along those words.

Anything else?

Any patient regardless of why they are there gets treated overall with courtesy and are allowed their diginity. Patients family members should also recieve the same courtesy as being hospitalised is a traumatic experience for anyone and being reassured by the people caring for patients when worried only takes a minute. Civility & courtesy cost nothing but can mean a lot to anyone concerned for the welfare of family members undergoing surgery.
