When I came in to give birth to my daughter the midwives were so kind and helpful , I was originally going to have a home birth but unfortunately couldn't due to my waters breaking but nothing happening for 24 hrs,
I was allowed time to relax and get used to the situation that I was in , as I was nervous being in hospital. When I was taken up to the labour ward my husband and I were given time alone to get ready before I was given a drip to help me along, I don't like needles but the midwife calmed me down and talked to me whilst they did it which helped slightly as it took awhile for the needle to go in. The three midwives I had during labour were all so friendly and I couldn't of asked for anyone better, a team of widwives came in and helped my daughter when she was born with her breathing as she was struggling, my only criticism I have here is that after I had delivered her a doctor walked into the room when they were not needed and just walked up to her then me and just left, even the midwives in the room were annoyed at this as the doctor didn't need to come in at all, afterwards I was given time alone to clean up, the student midwife then helped me feed my daughter. When I was taken down to the transitional ward I had to stay for two days but was discharged from that ward on the first night so when my baby woke in the middle of the night and I was struggling I had no help from the person sat in the room with us although they helped the other two women, I had to go out in to the hall and ask for help from the other midwives sat at the desk, the one that helped me allowed me time to compose myself as they looked after my daughter whilst I made a bottle up they also helped me do the feed, as she struggling to eat.
I just want to say how thankful I am with the care I received and the facilities within the hospital, and also the staff that took the time to help me whilst I was there even when they might of had other things to do I couldn't thank them enough.
