Disappointed by lack of supervision of junior Dr by consultant - they either had their back to the monitor (typing up report on previous patient) or was out of the room for a large proportion of the time.
When the consultant did take over because the junior Dr was unable to advance the scope, the consultant did not introduce themselves, did not speak to me, just continually tutted.
Please do not assume that because a patient is sedated they will be amnesic and do not therefore need to be afforded normal courtesy !
Consultant has reported that a dre was done when it was not (presumably they assumed the junior Dr did it while they were otherwise engaged.....).
I have absolutely no problem with being treated by junior Dr's (everyone has to learn and the junior Dr, unlike the consultant, was charming) provided they are appropriately supervised.
I can accept their lack of courtesy; my concern is that my referral was under the two week rule and rather than feeling re-assured by the procedure I have been left feeling something may have been missed due to the Consultants inattentiveness........Nursing staff were brilliant
