"Prostate Surgery"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital

Surgery and care were excellent.

However after a 4pm operation I found out that my discharge from hospital had already been scheduled for 10am the very next day. Discharge papers showing this.

However when met with nursing staff the next day I asked to be in hospital for a further one day as 1) I was in pain, and barely out of surgery, and 2) the normal scheduled stay being 3-4 days!

I found this very disturbing indeed, and was not at all impressed with the discharging procedures in my case.

I'm really sorry to read how disappointed you were in your post-operative care and the discharge process that went with this, especially as you were in pain and your understanding of the procedure was a hospital stay of three to four days.

I hope you are now making a good recovery but if you would like to share some more details with us please call the Assistance & Complaints department on 01246 512640.

It would be good to talk to you to see if we need to change anything that would improve a patient's future experience.

Kind regards Sarah Turner-Saint, head of communications
