"I can barely fault my treatment at ROH Birmingham"

About: Royal Orthopaedic Hospital

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everybody involved in my knee realignment last Friday (16 October). From the second I stepped foot in the door, to the moment I left, everybody was fantastic and bent over backwards to accommodate me.

The nurses on Snowdrop were wonderful in preparing me for my operation. Then the consultant came down and explained they were changing my operation. Before I went to theatre, the anesthetist came down and listened to my concerns about sickness and reassured me they would manage my vulnerability during my operation.

The rest of my stay, including my over-night experience, was wonderful. The staff on Ward 12 got me comfortable and checked on me every hour during the night. I was given plenty of tea, water and food to satisfy my post-surgery needs.

The next days the physiotherapists came round with my crutches and ensured I was familiar with my exercises and movement.

I later left at 7pm.

The treatment was what I'd expect from a private hospital. The staff were so professional and caring. I'm now recovering, with little pain and no infection.

My only fault would be that I wasn't marked before my operation, so I had to explain to theatre staff which knee needed to be operated.

A small concerned given the bigger picture of my wonderful treatment.

Thank you so much.

Hi Robert,

Many thanks for your feedback, we really appreciate it. I will make sure the staff involved hear about your kind words. I will however make sure your point about marking your knee is passed on though.

Best wishes

Sally Xerri-Brooks
