I was very worried before going for the lumbar puncture expecting it to be a painful experience, but it wasn't, it was more difficult for the nurse to do on me due to my weight, but apart from a small scratch when I got my local anaesthetic, I never felt any pain at all. The staff were very friendly and professional, they explained everything to me before the procedure and explained what I needed to do following it.
