"DAY SURGERY UNIT"

About: University Hospital Aintree

I had a bad experience when on the day surgery ward, I am 17 my relative was told they could wait in the waiting room but the got sent home. I had to sit on my own for around 6hours having panic attacks crying and my blood pressure going higher before I was taken down for surgery. The nurse did try and make me feel comfortable but this didn't work, when in recovery I asked if my relative could come back up the hospital and sit with me I got told no once again. Which I was upset about as I think when under 18 a relative should be allowed to sit with you at least i understand some parts of the hospital can't facilitate this is all circumstances.

However when I had to get more surgery about a month later I rang up the day surgery unit to see if it could be organised to have someone with me but simply got told by the nurse on the phone your old enough to Come on your own!
