"Child's A&E - Rugby injury"

About: University Hospital Lewisham

My son looked very out of place in the children's A&E being 15 and in his rugby kit. However, he'd injured his ankle and was in pain - the ambulance crew who treated him on the field and brought him in were caring and very efficient. We were booked through to the A&E and despite the whole place being very busy we were there for only about two hours in which time he was examined, X-rayed, the break found, a cast applied, shown how to use crutches and booked in for a follow up at Out Patient's. Many thanks to the ambulance, crew, the nurse who saw him and the person who did his cast. Brilliant job everyone!

Many thanks for taking the time to acknowledge the care given to your child and the kind words which I have passed on to all staff concerned. Please do not hesitate to contact the department if you have any thoughts how we could improve the environment for teenagers.
