"GP letter means nothing"

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

After seeing my GP with severe abdominal pains, they attempted to contact Queens to send me for an urgent scan. After 20 minutes the doctor was still unable to get through, so they typed up a letter and told me to go to A&E. I arrived at A&E approximately 1pm. I handed over my letter then was told to go to the next window (all of this while in a lot of pain) the next window read the letter then told me to take a seat. After a 45 minute wait a Triage nurse called me took my BP but didn't ask any questions at all. The triage nurse said that I would just have to wait because my GP hadn't managed to speak to anyone. After 5 minutes I was called for blood test, then sent to the SAU department. It was now aproximately 3.10 and I was still in pain, when I arrived at SAU the nurse asked where my notes were ( I hadn't been given any) I handed them the GP letter to be told I should have been sent straight to them on arrival. 1 hour later and another Triage nurse another BP check still no questions asked and no pain killers I was told to wait again. In the end my husband went to the shop to get some painkillers fo me. I was not seen by a doctor until 9.30PM 8 hours after arriving at A&E. I was admitted into hospital finally given some pain relief and given a bed at 12.30 am. I do not understand why I had to wait so long before being seen by a doctor when everybody else that was in the waiting with me were seen hours before.
