"3 months wait for MRI Scan which then breaks on..."

About: Oaklands Hospital

Was seen in July by, a very pleasant doctor and was requested to have an MRI Scan which I made an appointment for at the reception to which they said could be a long wait, but all seemed well so far. I made contact with the hospital at the end of August as I'd not heard anything or received any post to acknowledge any appointment had been made after originally being told despite the long wait it shouldn't be any later than early September. I was told by the receptionist it's looking likely it'll be at the end of September at the very latest and that I was about 10 in line for the scan. Again I remained patient and courteous to the assumption they're busy for very good reason. October arrives and still no appointment at this point I'm starting to lose my patience, I rang to see what the hell is going on and was told over the phone that I now had an appointment strangely enough and they confirmed that on the phone with me which seemed weird almost as if they'd acknowledged that something wasn't right - maybe I'd been forgotten about or something had gone wrong (maybe?) finally it's scan day on 14th October - 3 months after my initial consultation being told it would be no longer than a month. Arriving at reception I'm told the MRI machine has broken. Much to my surprise or should I say lack of - the alarm bells had already well and truly been ringing. No phone call to say there was a problem, I'd taken time off work specifically for this scan. Next available appointment isn't till the end of November. Safe to say they kindly managed to get me an earlier appointment for the 5th November. I later called back to see if I could be seen any earlier as I have private health care through work and this was through NHS .... Just a query but was promised a phone call back to confirm but no surprises no phone call back, I pop into the hospital to see the same receptionist I saw a few days previously and another nurse, in the politest way possible I'd expect a little more respect from your staff, there was little empathy and very little in the way of enthusiasm in the manner of their body language and tone of voice - for a private hospital I for one expect better and although this may be an isolated case I certainly won't ever use this hospital again, under no circumstances does anybody deserve to be treated in such a disrespectful manner by staff members.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments. I was extremely disappointed to hear of the issue you have had with our radiology service, please be assured that I am investigating the matter to ensure this is not repeated.
