I attended the walk in centre following a fall on holiday. They instantly diagnosed a ruptured a achilles tendon and made an appointment at fracture clinic at the Northern General for the next day. The doctor at fracture clinic told me that I hadn't ruptured anything. They put me in a boot and told me to come back in 2 weeks. Upon returning I saw another doctor who, after examining my ankle for less than 30 seconds , told me to continue with the boot and come back in 4 weeks.
That follow up appointment started with yet another doctor asking how I felt. When I explained that I was still in pain, my ankle was still swollen and bruised, they said that was normal and that it would take 6-9 months to heal. They then discharged me! At no point did they even look at my ankle let alone examine it.
No one has ever told me what I've done, just that I have an ankle injury. I could figure that out for myself and I don't have a medical degree!
Every doctor I saw gave me the impression that I was wasting their time.
I will never go to the Northern General fracture clinic again.
