"Shockingly bad WHH A&E dept"

I was brought in by ambulance in the middle of the night with severe abdominal pains. After being sick several times through pain I was given a shot of morphine which helped. I have to say the charge nurse was fairly professional. After having an x ray and a blood test the doctor told me there was nothing wrong with me, despite the fact I was still doubled over with pain. I was then told by another doctor I could go home. When I said I felt very ill they told me they could organise an ultrasound for me but it 'wasn't worth it'.

I had to be assisted to walk down the corridor that night at 3 am by my 2 elderly parents who helped me to their car and took me home.

The following day I was in a terrible state and was having difficulty breathing and in lots of pain. I went to my GP who got me admitted straight away through the surgical assessment unit, who were fantastic. I was then diagnosed with blood cancer as an inpatient.

I think it's absolutely disgusting how A&E did not pick this up a complete idiot could tell you I was poorly. The problem is they use so many locum doctors also they do not know if they are coming or going. They also cannot wait to get rid of you to meet targets and many of their staff are very 'hard' and unsympathetic.

I have since had 6 months chemotherapy and treatment by people who thankfully know what they are doing.

Beware before trusting your healthcare to this department and I would advise to use a different A&E if possible. I understand QEQM & Maidstone are better.

I apologise to the genuinely hardworking, caring nursing staff in this department, of which I am told there are some, but this is my experience and I have heard similar stories many times from others.

There's some big changes needed here. Further I can quantify this as I have worked in several acute hosptals
