Had cause to visit Telord A & E on 1st October due to acute abdomen pain caused by abdominal mass. I was waiting for a gynae referral and ovarian cancer blood test but pain became so bad I could hardly walk or breathe. The waiting times were accurate in triage at 1 hour. The triage nurse was very sympathetic and understanding then within 15 mins I was through to the a & e ward. Again perhaps 15 mins later seen and examined by doctor who ordered the cancer blood test and ultra sound. I must say that I was then moved from the cubicle unceremoniously into the corridor along with others. This does not leave you with much dignity especially sat in a hospital gown with a Canucks in and very emotional but I do understand the need to get people through a & e when it was busy.
I had my ultra sound about 30 mins later and the staff were so kind and understanding. I then waited (in the corridor) about 2 hours for all my results. The nurses were great got me blankets and painkillers. The healthcare assistants were kind and talked to me when I was emotional and brought me a much needed cup of tea. I then saw the doc again who discharged me with a referral and test results. The whole experience was made much more bearable by the wonderful caring staff. I am due to go back in shortly for a hystorectomy and am less worried and know I will be in good hands. Thank you to all.
