"Lack of post op aftercare"

About: John Radcliffe Hospital

I had surgery to remove a spinal tumour and fusion in July 2015. I suffered a few complications, one being csf leaks which was treated by a lumbar drain.

This meant 3.5 weeks in hospital.

My surgeon and their team treated me well and kept me informed while I was an inpatient.

Since being discharged, I have had absolutely no aftercare.

My surgeon had recommended physio, even while I was an inpatient, but nothing was organised.

My supposed 2/3 month follow up was scheduled for 4 month post op and has now been changed to 6 months!

I think this is just crazy.

Why bother doing such excellent surgery if you don't check that things are going right later on?

After major surgery and complications, you would think I would be followed up and checked, but no!

I have no idea if the pain I am getting in my back and leg is normal for this point post op or if there is something wrong - but I have no way of contacting my surgeon to ask them.

Surely aftercare is really important to someone's recovery?
