"Terrible"

About: Princess Royal University Hospital (Orpington)

When visiting my father on surgical 5 a nurse who was adminishing drugs on the ward gave him his tablets to take they then opened a bottle of SODIUM CHLORIDE thinking it was water and was about to pour it into in his cup when my husband noticed and stopped them. How can you not notice the difference between a jug of water that patients have at the side of their beds and a bottle that is clearly labeled that is used to flush out and clean catheters This nurse had been giving out drugs to other patients on the ward.

I made a complaint straight away and they were questioned by another member after I refused to let them any where near my father again they admitted that they thought it was water as it was in a bottle!!!!! The member of staff then told him to leave the ward straight away and i was assured they would not be allowed back as we left. This would of caused undue stress to my father at the time if he had drunk this due to his condition no apology given.
