"General poor performance"

About: Lister Hospital

Without going into a rant, my wife has left this hospital feeling treated worse than a prisoner. There was many factors, but the main reason is the general lack of patient care and communication. We can appreciate that it's a busy environment, however, it's not difficult to pop a head round a door and ask if everything is ok once in a while...

My wife was transferred from Kings Lynn QE, and had a 48hour stay. In this time, I did 2 days travelling, equating to 300 miles. During the out of hours timings, my wife was alone, with no visual entertainments, not even a basic magazine. All she wanted was some company. Instead she was put in an individual room, away from other patients, and left to fend for herself, with very minimal contact from a nurse.

This was our first and will be our last ever experience of this hospital, at least until dramatic changes to patient care is improved.

We're really sorry that you and your wife feel so let down by the Lister's maternity service.

We will, of course, share your comments with the team, but we also know that our senior midwifery colleagues will want to know more about what happened and why - as it's so out of kilter with what is experienced by most women using their service.

If you are willing to do so, perhaps you might email us at generalenquiries.enh-tr@nhs.net so we can put them in contact with you - at the very least they can listen to your concerns to see what seems to have gone wrong for you and your wife.
