"My second time at the hospital ..."

About: University Hospital Aintree

(as the patient),

What I liked

My second time at the hospital within 2/3 week period was a more pleasurable expereince, the doctors/nurses and staff on SAU & ward 1 where I was treated with respect and dignity by all.

What could be improved

When I was on ward 10 the attitude from the staff towards each other and also towards the paitents. You could also pick up the hostile atompshere between staff, they also had no empathy towards paitents who where in pain 'how would the staff know if a paitent is in pain aren't the paitents the best person to state this'

out of all of the nursing team there was only 3 nurses who showed any empathy or caring attitude to paitents and they were talked about by the rest of the staff team. One nurse was overheard my me saying to a student nurse 'they are like babies need to be told when to go to sleep' I felt this HIGHLY degrading people go into hospital because they are ill not to be made to feel worthless and a burden to them. I have NEVER experienced anything like this in the whole time I've either been a paitent or a visitor I was totally disgusted to the point I was adament I didn't want to return to this hopsital when I had post-op complications but in the end I had no option, but thankfully my second experience was not the same as the first. Also I left the first time from ward 10 with an infection that was not picked up causing me to have to come back in which I found to be DISGUSTING

Anything else?

It's a shame that one ward and staff team can leave a bitter taste in your mouth, this whole experience caused me/my family distress and upset which was not necessary and when we asked for information on how I was doing the attitude from most of ward 10 staff was that they couldn't wait for me to get out of there uncaring and unsympathatic - god knows how they would treat an older person who has no family to speak up for them lucky enough i was fortunate to have my family's support
