"A&E Attendance 11/10/2015"

About: William Harvey Hospital

We attended A&E with my young son at approx 17:30. We were told the wait was up to 3 hours and the waiting room was definitely busy. We saw the triage nurse after about 40 mins. The nurse was lovely, very child friendly and sent us for an xray. After a brief wait in xray my son was seen, again by a very helpful staff member who spoke to him in an age appropriate manner, my son was even able to see his xray (which made his day). Back to A&E for review, another wait of about 40 mins, but again they were very busy so to be expected. We were seen by a lovely Doctor who was super with my son, spoke very kindly to him and explained what they planned to do. Finally all well we were discharged home. A very positive experience for both myself and my son, who at 4 years of age could easily have been scared. Keep up the good work.

Response from William Harvey Hospital

Thank you very much for letting us know about your son's treatment in A&E.

As you say, it can be very scarey for a child to have to attend A&E and it is very important to us that he should be relaxed and happy.

Seeing an x-ray of your own body is always interesting no matter how old you are!

I hope all is well now.
