"A &E to Acute Eye Referral to MAU"

About: New Cross Hospital

I was sent into A and E by my GP who suspected a viral eye infection. The doctor couldn't call ahead as switchboard not answering, however the receptionist was great. Was seen by ophthalmology nurse in a v busy session. I was thought to have optic neuritis, so quickly given same day Referral to acute eye apts. They are fantastic. Thorough examination and they decided to send to MAU to see if I needed IV steroids. It was decided to send home as I has an apt with my neuro next week but I've been given access to eye infirmary now and I was really well looked after. Not so happy with medic who sent me home and decided not to treat but that's another story!
