My mother was admitted to QEH as an emergency. The staff ignored her request not to be given morphine (she told them she was allergic to it) and admitted that their notes only went back 16 years, so it was possible she had an allergic reaction in the past that they did not know about.
Two days after my mother was admitted, I was called in, as my mother's condition had deteriorated. When I arrived I looked at her medication notes and found out they had given her morphine again. When I queried why, I was told it didn't matter as she had also had a heart attack. The sister then instructed one of the nurses to be prepared to clear my mother's bed before the morning.
The 'care' shown was appalling, the attitude of the staff despicable. I hope I never have to set foot inside this hospital again. If you want decent care, you would be well advised to go to Norwich. My experience of the staff there has been positive in the extreme.
